The St. Louis Stars of the Negro American League played some games here, using Belleville Athletic Field (later known as Stags Park) as an alternate home field when they were unable to use Sportsman's Park. On June 29, 1941, Gene Smith pitched a no-hitter in an interleague game against the New York Black Yankees, winning 6-1.
