Biographical Information[edit]
Pat Patterson hit very well for the 1921 New York Giants, who went on to win the 1921 World Series. Patterson posted numbers of .400/.432/.486 in 35 at-bats between April 14 and June 29. An infielder, he backed up Frankie Frisch at third and Dave Bancroft at shortstop, neither of whom hit as well as he did. However, their range factors were better, and that may have made the difference.
Records at the time Patterson was an active player list his birth year at 1901, but as attested by more reliable sources, including his gravestone, he was born in 1897. See [1].
He was the brother of Ham Patterson.
