2024 Postseason
Recap[edit]
The 2024 Postseason will be played under the format first used in 2022, with the two division title winners with the best records in each league getting a bye into the Division Series, while the third-ranked division winner and three wild card teams will play a best-of-three Wild Card Series, with all games taking pace in the home ballpark of the higher-ranked team.
After observers had ripped their shirts in 2023 about the quick elimination of teams receiving a first round bye and the unfairness of it all, it was not a problem this year. Three of the four teams making it to the League Championship Series stage had won their respective divisions and received a first-round bye. Indeed, this postseason represented a rare instance since the introduction of additional wild card teams of the two teams with the best records in the majors meeting in the World Series.
