Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Tobias Myers was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 6th round of the 2016 amateur draft out of a high school in Florida. He gave up a commitment to attend the University of South Florida in order to sign with the Orioles.
He moved around a lot between his being drafted and making his major league debut almost eight years later. On July 31, 2017, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays in return for SS Tim Beckham. On November 19, 2021, he was traded again, this time heading to the Cleveland Guardians in return for SS Junior Caminero. He had made it to AAA in the interim, but then kicked around the high minors for a while, being designated for assignment on July 2, 2022 when the Guardians needed to clear a spot on their 40-man roster; he was sent to the San Francisco Giants a few days later, but was once again DFA'ed at the trading deadline and claimed off waivers by the Chicago White Sox. Following the season, he was signed as a free agent by the Milwaukee Brewers, finally finding a long-term home.
He spent the 2023 season largely with the Biloxi Shuckers of the Southern League, where he made 26 starts in 27 appearances, but also appeared in a couple of AAA games with the Nashville Sounds. His record was 10-5, 4.93, with 175 strikeouts in 140 2/3 innings. He started the 2024 season at Nashville and was 1-1, 1.62 after 4 appearances when he got the call to Milwaukee. In his first big league start on April 23rd against the Pittsburgh Pirates he pitched well enough that he could have won the game in most circumstances, allowing just 1 run on 4 hits in 5 innings, but he left trailing, 1-0, and the Brewers were never able to tie the score, eventually losing the game, 2-1, with the loss being tagged on his record.
