History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

The 2013 Minnesota Twins were not expected to compete for the title in the AL Central, after making some future-oriented trades in the off-season, in spite of the presence of two former MVPs in the line-up in C Joe Mauer and 1B Justin Morneau. Most emblematic were the successive trades of two centerfielders, Denard Span and Ben Revere, both in return for young players. They managed to make those predictions lie in April, finishing the month at 11-12, only 3 games out of first. May was a different story though. While they were still a game above .500 on May 13th, the bottom then fell out with a ten-game losing streak. In the 10th loss, on May 24th, Anibal Sanchez of the Detroit Tigers almost threw a no-hitter against them, only allowing a single to Mauer with one out in the 9th in shutting the Twins out, 6-0.
