All-Star Game[edit]

The American League lost the 2012 All-Star Game at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, MO on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 by a score of 8 to 0 against the National League. The league's manager was Ron Washington.

Postseason[edit]

The 2012 American League playoffs featured the champions of the league's three divisions along with two wild card teams. The teams competed in a Wild Card Game, a best-of-five Division Series, and a best-of-seven League Championship Series. The winner of the League Championship Series represented the league in the World Series.

In the World Series, the American League champion Detroit Tigers lost to the National League's San Francisco Giants, 4 games to 0.

Award winners[edit]

The winner of the league's Most Valuable Player Award, given its Most Valuable Player, was Miguel Cabrera, a first baseman with the Detroit Tigers. In the award's voting, he had 362 out of a possible 392 points and 22 first-place votes.

The winner of the league's Cy Young Award, given its best pitcher, was David Price of the Tampa Bay Rays. In the award's voting, he had 153 out of a possible 160 points and 14 first-place votes.

The winner of the league's Rookie of the Year Award, given its best rookie player, was Mike Trout, an outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, by unanimous choice. In the award's voting, he had 140 out of a possible 140 points and all 28 first-place votes.
