All-Star Game[edit]

The American League won the tenth midsummer classic at Polo Grounds in New York, NY on Monday, July 6, 1942 by a score of 3 to 1. The league's manager was Joe McCarthy.

Postseason[edit]

In the World Series, the American League champion New York Yankees were defeated by the National League's St. Louis Cardinals, 4 games to 1.

Award winners[edit]

The winner of the league's Most Valuable Player Award, given its Most Valuable Player, was Joe Gordon, a second baseman with the New York Yankees. In the award's voting, he had 270 out of a possible 336 points and 12 first place votes.

Hall of Fame Game[edit]

The third annual Hall of Fame Game was played on August 3 at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, NY near the National Baseball Hall of Fame. In the game, the American League's Philadelphia Athletics lost to the St. Louis Cardinals of the National League by a score of 5 to 2.
