History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
On June 30th, the 2012 Tampa Bay Rays held a "Turn Back the Clock" night at Tropicana Field, during which they took the field in uniforms from the 1979 season. The catch was that the Rays were still two decades away from making their debut that year, so special uniforms were designed for the occasion, based on the style of the garish brown and yellow San Diego Padres uniforms from that year, but featuring the Rays' current color scheme of light and dark blue with a 1970s-style font and cap design.
The Rays set an American League record by striking out 1,383 opponents during the season.
