Season Highlights[edit]

The 2000 Tampa Bay Devil Rays season was their 3rd since the franchise was created. They finished last in the AL East division, with a record of 69-92. Their manager was Larry Rothschild, who had been at the helm since the club's inaugural game in 1998.

In 2000, the Devil Rays used the slogan "Hit Show" to promote the fact that the team was comprised of All-Star sluggers, such as Jose Canseco, Fred McGriff and Greg Vaughn. However, even though ownership spent money on veteran players, these were unable to produce for the club.
