The 2008 International League season was the 122nd in the league's history, and ended with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees winning their first Governors' Cup. The franchise had lost its previous three finals. Yankees manager Dave Miley also led the Louisville RiverBats to the Governors' Cup title in 2001, ironically over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons.
