Biographical Information[edit]
Chris Getz was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 4th round of the 2005 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Mike Shirley and made his pro debut that summer.
Chris's wife Nicky competed in the fall 2013 season of the reality television show The Amazing Race, forming a tandem with Kim DeJesus, wife of his former teammate with the Kansas City Royals, David DeJesus. The two were appropriately dubbed "the baseball wives" on the show, where they finished in sixth place.
Following his retirement as a player, he became director of player development for the White Sox. In January 2021, he was promoted to Assistant General Manager. On August 31, 2023, he was named the team's General Manager, replacing the recently dismissed Rick Hahn. He quickly hired a couple of former players to assist him, Josh Barfield to be assistant GM and Brian Bannister as senior advisor for pitching.
He was only the second major leaguer with the last name Getz, following Gus Getz, who broke in 99 years earlier.
