Biographical Information[edit]
Rudy Abbott won 1,003 games over 32 years as head coach at Jacksonville State University. Under his leadership, the school won the Division II College World Series in 1990 and 1991. He also took the team to the Series in 1973, 1979, 1983, 1988 and 1989. He coached Todd Jones and Tim Van Egmond in college. Abbott had tossed two no-hitters as a pitcher at Jacksonville State. His nephew Terry Abbott was the Cincinnati Reds scouting supervisor for four years.
