Biographical Information[edit]

Terry Abbott has been a pitcher, coach and scout. His uncle Rudy Abbott was his college coach.

The Atlanta Braves picked Abbott in the 15th round of the 1977 amateur draft and he pitched in their organization in 1977-1978. He was 7-3 with a 3.07 ERA for the 1977 Kingsport Braves, finishing 6th in the Appalachian League in ERA. He went 8-5 with two saves and a 3.69 for the 1978 Greenwood Braves, just missing the top 10 in ERA (by .03) in the Western Carolinas League.

Abbott was pitching coach at Jacksonville State University in 1981 and head coach at William R. Boone High School from 1983-1986, and 1988 succeeding John Hart [1]. He began a coaching career as a pitching coach in the Pittsburgh Pirates chain with the Augusta Pirates in 1989. He coached at various levels of the Cincinnati Reds' organization in the 1990's including the Cedar Rapids Reds in 1990, Billings Mustangs in 1992-1993, Chattanooga Lookouts in 1994-1995, and Billings again in 1997-1998 and was the Reds' scouting supervisor from 2001-2004.

Abbott was the pitching coach of the Jupiter Hammerheads in 2011.
