Biographical information[edit]

Fabian Williamson played in the minor leagues from 2007 to 2019. Taken in the 22nd round of the 2006 amateur draft by the Seattle Mariners, Williamson was signed by scouts Phil Pote and Greg Whitworth.

Williamson began his professional career in 2007, appearing in 14 games for the AZL Mariners and in one game for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. He went 6-2 with a 3.43 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 65 2/3 innings with the AZL Mariners. He tied Euclides Viloria for second in the Arizona League in strikeouts, trailing only Michael Anton. He tied for second in wins and was 10th in ERA. With the Timber Rattlers, he earned a no-decision in his only game, pitching six innings and allowing no earned runs.

In 2008, he played for the Pulaski Mariners, going 4-3 with a 4.10 ERA in 11 games started. In 52 2/3 innings, he struck out 67 batters. On January 20, 2009, he was traded to the Boston Red Sox for David Aardsma. With the Greenville Drive that year, he was 10-5 with a 2.42 ERA in 28 games (12 starts). He began 2010 with the Salem Red Sox (14 GS, 4-3 W-L, 3.72 ERA), before being traded to the Oakland Athletics for Eric Patterson. He finished the season with the Stockton Ports (13 GS, 5-2 W-L, 4.57 ERA) and was 9-5 with a 4.14 ERA overall.

In 2011, Williamson was 3-6 with a 7.16 ERA in 22 games (12 starts) split between the Ports and Midland RockHounds. He was cut loose by Oakland following that season and latched on with the independent Winnipeg Goldeyes of the American Association. He was 2-4 with a 3.63 ERA with them before the Atlanta Braves purchased his contract and assigned him to the Rome Braves (14 G, 2-4 W-L, 4.29 ERA). Overall, he was 4-8 with a 4.00 ERA in 22 games (15 starts). The hurler began 2013 in indy ball, going 6-2 with a 3.42 ERA in 18 games (12 starts) for the American Association's Laredo Lemurs. He was 1-4 with a 6.61 ERA in 7 starts for the Bakersfield Blaze after the Cincinnati Reds purchased him in August.

He returned to the Reds system in 2014, going 2-6 with a 4.05 ERA in 51 games between the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (50 G) and Triple-A Louisville Bats, striking out 68 batters in 60 innings. In his inaugural, brief, two-inning foray into Triple-A, he had a 4.50 ERA. Pitching in the Miami Marlins system in 2015, Williamson was 4-1 with a 5.32 ERA in 40 games between the Jacksonville Suns and Triple-A New Orleans Zephyrs. In 47 1/3 innings, he had 47 strikeouts and 38 walks. Moving to the Mexican League for 2016, Williamson went 4-2 with a 2.72 ERA in 65 games for the Acereros de Monclova in 2016, striking out 60 batters in 53 innings. He led the LMB in games pitched, one ahead of Jose Flores. Between Monclova and the Pericos de Puebla in 2017, he was 0-0 with a 9.51 ERA in 40 games. Between three clubs in 2018, he was 3-0 in 39 games; he was 0-1 with a 4.80 ERA in 49 games in 2019.

He has also spent a couple seasons in the Mexican Pacific Winter League.
