Biographical Information[edit]

Michael Anton pitched in the minor leagues from 2007 to 2011. Not a hard thrower, he relied on a screwball.

Anton was just 1-6 in two years in college for the Virginia Military Institute. In December 2004, he was involved in a car accident; while swerving to avoid a deer, he crashed into a hill and suffered a compound fracture of his arm. The injury caused him significant pain, which detracted from his academics and baseball, and he wound up dropping out of school.

In 2007, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim discovered Anton and signed him in the 12th round of the 2007 amateur draft. He split 2007 between the AZL Angels (5-3, 3.21, 82 K in 61 2/3 IP) and Orem Owlz (0-1, 3.86). In 2008, he pitched for the Cedar Rapids Kernels (7-4, 2.40) and Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (6-5, 5.51).
