Biographical Information[edit]
Phil Pote scouted in Los Angeles, CA for decades, still active in 2009 at age 76. He has worked for the Oakland A's, Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle Mariners and signed Matt Keough, Chet Lemon, Wayne Gross, Mike Davis, Stephen Kahn and Fabian Williamson among others. He also coached a Fremont High School team which included Bob Watson, Bobby Tolan and Willie Crawford. He also coached Locke High School and at LA City College. He helped inspire John Young to create Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities. He appeared as himself or as a scout in the movies "The Scout" (1994) and Moneyball.
