Biographical Information[edit]

Denise Pérez has been on the Mexican women's national team.

She hit .222/.300/.222 and fielded .955 in the 2022 Women's Baseball Americas World Cup Qualifier, serving as Mexico's primary shortstop. [1] Mexico won a spot in the 2023-2024 Women's Baseball World Cup. In the '23 portion, she was Mexico's main second baseman as they made their Women's Baseball World Cup debut (Samaria Benítez played short in that event). She hit third in their opener against host Canada and struck out against Raine Padgham her first time up. She later added a double off Alli Schroder. She had a huge day against Hong Kong, going 4-for-4 with a walk and 8 RBI, missing a cycle by a triple; she went deep off Hei-Ting Lau. It was Mexico's second WBWC homer, following Diana Ibarra. She batted .389/.450/.722 with 11 RBI in 5 games in the 2023 portion, fielding .857. Mexico did well enough in their first WBWC to advance to the 2024 phase. She was among the group leaders in hits (7, 3rd, behind Alex Hugo and Alexane Fournier), doubles (3, tied for second with Denae Benites, one shy of Hugo), RBI (1st, two ahead of Hugo), total bases (13, 2nd, 4 behind Hugo), slugging (5th, between Sena Catterall and Naomi Ryan) and OPS (5th, between Ryan and Remi Schaber). [2] In the '24 portion, she moved to DH as Gabriela Sandoval became the 2B. She was 1-for-8 with five walks; her lone hit was a homer off Padgham to put Mexico up in the Bronze Medal Game against Canada, though Mexico failed to hold on. She tied Madison Willan for second in walks, one behind Akari Hoshikawa. She also tied for second in homers, one behind Hugo. [3]
