Biographical Information

Vince Sinisi has played 3 AAA seasons (through 2008).

Sinisi had a big debut in NCAA Division I in 2002, hitting .428 to easily led the #5 team in the nation. The first baseman drove in 80 runs and scored 65 in 66 games. He was 11th in NCAA Division I in average, 4th in hits (116) and tied Ryan Shealy for 14th in RBI. He led the Western Athletic Conference in average (by .059), runs, hits, doubles (22, tied) and RBI. He was the WAC All-Conference first baseman and Player of the Year. Baseball America named him as the 1B on their Freshman All-American team. They named him second-team All-American.

Sinisi hit .338 as a sophomore and led the WAC with 97 hits. He was again the All-Conference 1B. He went only 4 for 25 in the 2003 College World Series but Rice still won the title. The Texas Rangers took him in the 2nd round of the 2003 amateur draft, their second pick after John Danks; their next pick would be the star of the 2003 College World Series, John Hudgins. He was the 46th overall pick, right after Tom Gorzelanny. Sinisi was signed by scout Randy Taylor for a $2,070,000 bonus, the highest of any second-rounder that year.

Vince made his pro debut in high-A ball, hitting .258/.288/.323 in 14 games for the Stockton Ports. Baseball America rated him the #10 prospect in the Texas system. In 2004, Sinisi batted .310/.383/.472 in 63 games for Stockton but broke his left arm in an outfield collision on June 13 and would be out the rest of the campaign. Sinisi split 2005 between the Bakersfield Blaze (.363/.438/.600 in 35 games) and the Frisco RoughRiders (.258/.300/.343 in 65 contests).

Vincent played for Italy in the 2006 World Baseball Classic, going 2 for 12 with one home run off Rich Thompson in a win over Australia. Sinisi hit .309/.373/.368 in 18 games for Frisco in '06 and .220/.298/.300 in 14 games for the Oklahoma RedHawks. He was then dealt with 2003 CWS rival Hudgins to the San Diego Padres for Freddy Guzman and Cesar Rojas. Assigned to the Mobile BayBears, the Texas native hit .269/.349/.417 with 33 doubles in 379 AB; he hit .315 against southpaws. He batted .264 for the Peoria Saguaros that fall.

Sinisi spent 2007 in AAA with the Portland Beavers and batted .310/.357/.475 in 80 contests. In the winter of 2007-2008, Sinisi hit .306 for the Leones del Escogido to finish second in the Dominican League in average behind Juan Melo. He also possibly led the league in homers (6) and RBI (28) in his 45 games.

Back with Portland for 2008, the veteran hit .283/.322/.376 with only 4 home runs in 80 games. He batted .245/.310/.302 for the Gigantes del Cibao that winter.
