- 1907 - The Cardinals steal home a record three times in one game. Ed Konetchy does it twice and Joe Delahanty once.
- 1924 - Nick Altrock hits a triple; at age 48, he is the oldest major leaguer to connect for a three-bagger.
- 1927 - Babe Ruth hits his 60th home run, going deep against Tom Zachary, to break his own six-year-old record. It is the fourth and final time Ruth sets a new single-season home run record.
- 1962 - Bill Fischer (pictured) walks Bubba Morton on four pitches, ending his record streak of 84 1/3 consecutive walk-free innings.
- 1972 - Roberto Clemente hits a double against Jon Matlack for his 3,000th and final hit in the major leagues.
- 1984 - On the last day of the season, Mike Witt strikes out 10 in a perfect game.
