Biographical Information[edit]
Takashi Miyoshi played for the London Monarchs in 2003, the Japan Samurai Bears in 2005 and the Victoria Seals in 2009. All three clubs were independent. The second baseman hit .147/.194/.147 with no home runs and one RBI in 34 at-bats over 13 games. Starting in 2009, Miyoshi sometimes worked jointly as a player/coach.
He served as a player/coach for the Seals in 2009, and solely as a coach for the Brockton Rox in 2011, the Sioux City Explorers in 2012 and the Grand Prairie Air Hogs in 2013-2014.
Miyoshi was named to manage the Waterloo Whiskey Jacks in 2015, but was later replaced by Jon Plefka. The club never actually hit the field, with its league, the East Coast Baseball League, folding. He then joined the Sonoma Stompers of the Pacific Association as a coach and took charge of the club on July 13, 2015 when the current player/manager (Fehlandt Lentini) was traded away. Miyoshi became the first Japanese native to manage in the US minors without appearing in Nippon Professional Baseball. He returned in 2016 as a player/manager and was named the league's manager of the year after leading his team to a title. The team's record was even better in 2017 under his leadership, but came up short in trying to win a second championship. He has also managed in the California Winter League.
In 2018 the Minnesota Twins hired Miyoshi as a coach for the Elizabethton Twins and he stayed there through the 2019 season. He was slated for a managerial role with the GCL Twins in 2020 before the minor league season was canceled due to COVID-19. He did get his opportunity to manage in 2021 with the FCL Twins. He was then bench coach of the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels in 2022 and Wichita Wind Surge in 2023.
Moving to the Cincinnati Reds' organization, Miyoshi was a defensive coach for the DSL Reds in 2024.
