The East Coast Baseball League was a proposed independent circuit that was set to begin play of a 60-game schedule in 2015. The league was to feature six teams: the Watertown Bucks, the Newburgh Newts, the Old Orchard Beach Surge, the Road City Explorers, the Niagara Wild and the Waterloo Whiskey Jacks. The Bucks pulled out of the league prior to the start of the campaign and the other United States-based teams followed suit; they reformed as a new league, the North Country Baseball League, under the guidance of Bruce Zicari. The ECBL's commissioner was Colin Cummins, a former professional player.
