He tied Johnaikel Acosta for 8th in losses and tied Jim Ploeger for 9th with 55 strikeouts. During the 2023 U23 European Championship, he was 0-1 with a 3.23 ERA, losing to France's Quentin Moulin. Making the German senior team for the first time, he relieved Marcel Giraud in the 5th with a 6-4 lead over Switzerland, two on and no outs. He struck out Kyle Williamson on three pitches then Will Vasseur singled with a runner thrown out at the plate. Leonel Sosa grounded out to end the inning as he had escaped a jam. He went 1-2-3 in the 6th and struck out two in a scoreless 7th to get the win over Stefan Haltmeier. Joe Cedano De Leon took over for him. He then got a key call in the Bronze Medal Game, replacing Titus Von Kapff in the 5th with a 1-0 lead. He retired minor league veteran Jiandido Tromp and former major leaguer Roger Bernadina. He walked Ray-Patrick Didder then got another former MLBer, Didi Gregorius. In the 6th, though, Juremi Profar took him deep. Sicnarf Loopstok doubled and took third on an error on the play, then scored on a wild pitch. Groß struck out Sharlon Schoop then was relieved by Markus Solbach. Germany battled the favored Dutch to extra innings before falling. [4]
The right-hander was 2-6 with a 5.16 ERA for the Twins in 2024, tying for 6th in losses but missing the top-ten in K by 2 (he had 65 to Kaj Timmermans' 67).
