Biographical Information[edit]

Leonel Sosa has played in the Swiss Ligue Nationale A and for the Swiss national team.

Sosa hit .404/.474/.511 for the 2017 Zurich Challengers, then .337/.405/.541 in 2018 when he won Best Fielder honors. [1] He fell to .281/.330/.506 in 2019 and .274/.413/.411 in 2020 but won MVP the latter year. [2] He hit .386/.417/.818 in 2021, .392/.429/.608 with 31 runs and 38 RBI in 24 games in 2022 and .375/.474/.594 in 2023. [3]

In the 2023 Federations Cup, he hit .211/.211/.474 with five runs in five games, fielding .952 at short. He was second with 16 assists. [4] When Switzerland made their first European Championship in 2023, he started at second base and hit 8th in their opener against Israel. He grounded out and walked against Itai Spinoza then was replaced by Regis Reinhard. His first hit was a two-run single off Belgium's Kevin De Smedt. [5]
