Biographical Information

Johnaikel Acosta has pitched in the Hoofdklasse and for the Curacao national team.

He came to the US for college, going 0-1 with a 11.81 ERA in 2020. He was then 1-3 with a 6.35 ERA and followed with a 2-1, 5.40 record in 2021. He went 2-5 with a 6.60 ERA for Quick Amersfoort in the 2022 Hoofdklasse, walking 39 in 46 1/3 IP. He tied for 8th in the league in losses and tied for 6th in walks.

Acosta was the only Aruban-born hurler on the Curacao team in the 2022 Caribbean Baseball Cup. In his lone appearance, he relieved Zairich Daal in the 4th with a 3-3 tie, the bases loaded and one out against the US Virgin Islands. It was a bad situation to call for someone with control issues. He walked Taj Bates and Dwayne Maduro to force in two runs then Je-andrick Lourens came in but allowed the inherited runs to score. Curacao still did well enough in the event to win a spot in the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games.
