Biographical Information[edit]

Se-woong Park has pitched in the KBO as has his brother Se-jin Park.

He was excellent in the 2013 World Junior Championship, with 10 2/3 shutout innings entering the placement games, beating Australia and Venezuela. He was 4th in ERA (Tomohiro Anraku, Cheng-Hsien Lin and Kyu-hyun An were at 0 in more innings), 3rd in opponent average (.088, behind Rubén Hernández and Lachlan Wells) and tied for 1st in wins (with Anraku, Chia-Wei Yang, Yuki Matsui and Arbelio Quiróz). [1] In the 5th/6th place game, he again beat Venezuela, allowing one run in 6 1/3 IP.

Park was the first-round pick of the kt Wiz in the 2014 KBO draft. He was traded partway through his rookie season, packaged with Sung-min Lee, Hyun-woo Cho and Jung-yeol An to the Lotte Giants for Sung-woo Jang, Yeo-woon Yoon, Dae-sung Choi, Chang-jin Lee and Jun-ho Ha. [2] For the 2015 season, he was 2-11 with a 5.76 ERA. He tied for 4th in the league in losses.

His first full year with Lotte, he posted an identical 5.76 ERA, going 7-12 in 2016. He tied Hyeon-jong Yang and Si-hwan Jang for 5th in the league in losses. He tied for 9th in walks (62) and was 9th in runs allowed (97) but just missed the top 10 in strikeouts (133, one shy). He improved to 12-6, 3.68 in 2017. He tied for 7th in the league in wins and was 8th in ERA (between Merrill Kelly and Brooks Raley) though he still tied for 6th in walks (56).

In 2018, he was bombed (1-5, 9.92). He was 3-6 with a 4.20 ERA in 2019. He was pitching regularly again in 2020 (8-10, 4.70). He made South Korea's team for the Tokyo Olympics. [3]
