Cheng-Hsien Lin pitched in the CPBL and for the Taiwanese national team.
Lin was 0-1 with a 4.00 ERA in four outings in the 2012 World Junior Championship. [1] In the 2013 World Junior Championship, he beat Canada and threw 4 2/3 shutout innings as Taiwan edged rival South Korea. In 17 2/3 IP in the tournament, he allowed two runs, both unearned. Among pitchers with a 0.00 ERA, only Tomohiro Anraku worked more innings (1/3 more). [2] He was picked by the EDA Rhinos in the 6th round of the 2015 CPBL Draft. [3]
The Hualien native was 2-1 with a 6.44 ERA in the 2016 CPBL. [4] The team became the Fubon Guardians in 2017 and he was 3-3 with a 3.79 ERA. He also attended the 2017 CPBL All-Star Game, and he pitched a inning with a run allowed. Lin then pitched for Taiwan in the 2017 Asia Professional Baseball Championship, and he allowed 3 runs in 4 2/3 innings as the starter against Japan. He fell to 0-3, 6.61 in the 2018 CPBL. He was on the Taiwanese squad that got the Bronze in the 2018 Asian Games. He got one start and shut down Hong Kong in a four-inning mercy rule win (2 H, 1 R, 6 K, 0 BB). [5] Lin stayed in the minors for the next two seasons, and the Guardians released him. The Wei Chuan Dragons signed him, but Lin had a 10.47 ERA in 11 games, then his professional career ended.
Overall, Lin was 5-7 with a 5.45 ERA, struck out 107 and pitched 140 1/3 innings in 4 seasons in the CPBL.
