The Fubon Guardians replaced the EDA Rhinos in the Chinese Professional Baseball League in 2017, when Fubon Financial Holdings bought the team from EDA. They were fresh off a title in the 2016 Taiwan Series. The Guardians play at XinZhuang Baseball Stadium in Taipei.
