The EDA Rhinos joined the Chinese Professional Baseball League in 2013 when the Sinon Bulls got a new sponsor. They won the first half behind manager Sheng-Ming Hsu, Yi-Chuan Lin and Manny Ramirez (the highest-profile American to sign with a CPBL club to that point), but Ramirez quit the team in June and Hsu had a fatal heart attack, leaving them in poor shape going into the 2013 Taiwan Series, where they were promptly swept by the Uni-President Lions. The team won the 2016 Taiwan Series, led that season by Series MVP Che-Hsuan Lin, Kuo-Hui Kao and Mike Loree. They were sold the same year, though, to Fubon Financial Holdings, ending EDA's short run in the CPBL.
