Biographical Information[edit]

Dae-sung Choi has pitched for the Lotte Giants. In 2004, he debuted with a 2.84 ERA in 6 games. Choi was 0-1 with a 19.20 ERA in 2005, allowing 25 hits and 9 walks in 14 2/3 IP. He was 2-1 with a save in the 2005 Baseball World Cup, saving the win over Brazil, beating China and Japan and losing to Cuba and Dany Betancourt in the Gold Medal game as South Korea got Silver; Choi allowed one run in 4 innings as the starter in the 3-0 defeat. He had a 1.35 ERA and fanned 37 in 26 2/3 IP. He tied for 4th in the Cup in wins and easily led in strikeouts, 10 ahead of Pedro Luis Lazo.

Choi's international success did not carry over to the 2006 KBO, as he was 1-3 with a save and a 6.60 ERA, allowing 43 hits and 20 walks in 30 innings. The Lotte right-hander went 3-2 with a 2.67 ERA in 41 games, striking out 53 in 57 1/3 IP and allowing 39 hits and 31 walks. He made two appearances in May of 2008 but has not pitched for Lotte otherwise in 2008 as of September 9.
