Biographical Information[edit]

Si-hwan Jang has pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization and for the South Korean national team.

Jang was a second-round pick of the Hyundai Unicorns in 2007. He allowed 7 walks, 11 hits and 7 runs in six innings for them in 2007. The Unicorns became the Woori Heroes in 2008 and he gave up two homers and four runs in one inning. For the 2009 Seoul Heroes, he surrendered nine hits, six walks and ten runs (six earned) in 3 2/3 IP. The club finally settled in with a name as the Nexen Heroes starting in 2010, when he did not pitch. In 2011, he gave up five runs in 6 1/3 IP. He was 0-6 with a save and a 5.02 ERA in 2012. In 2013, he gave up 7 hits, 7 walks and 9 runs in 5 2/3 IP and he had similar numbers (9 H, 3 BB, 9 R in 6 2/3 IP) in 2014.

Moving to the expansion kt Wiz, he became a regularly-used hurler in 2015 and made the All-Star team. He went 7-5 with 12 saves and a 3.98 ERA, striking out 75 in 74 2/3 innings before a knee injury ended his season in September. He slumped to 3-12, 6.33 with six saves in 2016. He tied for fifth in the league in losses. Despite his rough '16, he made the South Korean squad for the 2017 World Baseball Classic. He got into one game, relieving Woo-chan Cha in the 7th with a 8-7 lead over Taiwan. He struck out Chih-Sheng Lin and got Yi-Chuan Lin on a grounder, but Kuo-Hui Kao doubled and Yung-Chi Chen singled to tie the game. He caught a liner by Kun-Sheng Lin to end the inning. In the 8th, he was relieved by Jong-hyun Won. South Korea would win in extra innings.
