Biographical Information[edit]

Sílvio Figueiredo debuted for the Brazilian national team in the 2022 South American Championship. In his first game, he relieved Douglas Takano in the 5th with a 9-1 lead over host Peru. He allowed four straight singles - to Johan Verastegui, Joaquin Velez, Daniel Liu and Giancarlo Kanashiro - then plunked Susumu Yoza. It was now 9-3 and Kawan de Araújo took over, but all the inherited runners scored to give Silvio 5 runs (3 earned) in 0 innings. His other appearance came against Argentina, replacing Pedro Nakashima with one out in the third, a 6-1 deficit and men on the corners. He escaped further harm by striking out José Gerez and Sebastián García. He allowed one run in the 4th and one in the 5th before being relieved by Luis dos Santos. He had the highest ERA on the champs; Igor Kimura was next at 12.00. He tied Matias Miyagusuku and Jorge Sivirichi for 5th in the event with 7 runs allowed, tied for 4th with 5 earned runs and had the 8th-highest ERA, between Israel Saldarriaga and Camilo Ramos. [1]
