Biographical Information[edit]
José Gerez was a catcher for his hometown Infernales de Salta when he joined the Argentinian national team for the 2019 Pan American Games. Backing up former minor leaguer Lucas Nakandakare and Italian leaguer Juan Pablo Angrisano behind the dish, he had four putouts and four plate appearances. He was retired by Cuba's Freddy Asiel Álvarez and Pedro Ángel Álvarez after replacing Nakandare in a loss. He took over for Nakandakare in the 7th/8th place game mercy rule rout of Peru. He drew a walk from Jesús Vargas in the 4th, then reached on an error later that frame and scored his second run of the inning.
