Biographical Information

Luís dos Santos was on the Brazilian national team in the 2022 South American Championship, starting their opener versus Bolivia. He had a 5-0 lead before he threw his first pitch and went 1-2-3 in the first against Cristian Soliz, Franklin Montero and Alexi Legrá, ending the inning with a K. He allowed two hits (both to Alexi Legrá) and one unearned run in four innings, walking one (José Delgado( and striking out two (Legrá and Delgado). Pedro Nakashima closed out his win over Camilo Ramos.

He was back with them for the 2024 South American Championship, twice dominating Chile with five-inning shutout mercy rule wins, beating Javier Araya and Pablo Ossandón. He struck out ten in ten innings, allowing 7 hits and one walk. He led the event in wins, complete games, shutouts, ERA and strikeouts (tied with Jeferson Hernández) and was 4th in IP. He won the MVP and Brazil finished second.
