Biographical Information

Johan Verastegui was the main catcher for the Peruvian national team in the 2022 Bolivarian Games. In his first plate appearance, versus the Dominican national team, he was 0 for 2 against Samuel Burgos. He finished the Games 1-for-13 with a run and a steal, fielding .926 but gunning down an impressive 46.7% of would-be base-stealers. His lone hit came off Venezuela's Victor Aguilar. He easily led the Games with seven runners thrown out, five more than runner-up Jesús Posso, and led catchers in percentage thrown out.
