Pinar del Río (Serie Nacional)

Pinar del Río was formed in 1992-1993 when the Forestales and Vegueros merged. The Forestales had previously gone by the Pinar del Río name from 1967-1974. The team has won titles in 1996-1997, 1997-1998, 2010-2011 and 2013-2014. Pinar del Río stars have included Omar Linares, Pedro Luis Lazo, Omar Ajete, José Contreras, Alexei Ramirez and Yosvani Peraza.

Pinar del Río won the 2015 Caribbean Series, defeating the Tomateros de Culiacan in the finals, thereby becoming the first Cuban team in 55 years to win the tournament.

Pinar del Rio are nicknamed the Vegueros, after the veguero cigars which are made in the province.
