The United East Conference was formed in 1994 as the North Eastern Athletic Conference. The Division-III conference was rebranded in August 2021. The conference includes schools in the states of Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York and also Washington, DC.

It was announced in December 2022 that the United East would merge with the Colonial States Athletic Conference after the 2022-2023 school year. The merged conference will keep the United East name, ending the CSAC.
