Biographical Information[edit]

Nicolò Pinazzi has pitched in the minors and for the Italian national team.

He allowed one run in one inning for Collecchio in the 2020 Serie A1. He was signed by Cincinnati Reds scout Sal Varriale that year. [1] He had a solid US debut, going 2-1 with a 2.60 ERA for the 2021 ACL Reds, with 31 K in 17 1/3 IP, though he walked 14. In 2022, he pitched for the ACL Reds (3-1, 4.54 in 11 G) and Daytona Tortugas (3 R in 3 IP). He was with Italy for the 2023 World Baseball Classic but did not pitch. [2]

Pinazzi was back with the ACL Reds (2-0, Sv, 5.60 in 12 G; 25 K, 15 BB in 17 2/3 IP) and Daytona (1-3, 9.82 in 13 G) in 2023. For the season, he struck out 50 but walked 41 in 36 innings, throwing 15 wild pitches. He made two appearances for Italy in the 2023 European Championship. Debuting versus Sweden, he took over for Gabriele Quattrini with one out in the 4th, two on and a 3-0 deficit. Albin Käck hit into a force and Tommy Lindell got plunked, then Joel Johnson hit a grand slam. He struck out Joel's brother Daniel but the damage had been done. The 5th was much smoother as he went 1-2-3 against Jeff Pruitt, Thomas Paulich and Leo Bäckström, bookending the inning with strikeouts. Claudio Scotti succeeded him. His other game was against Switzerland. He closed out the 12-3 win, relieving Mattia Aldegheri. He whiffed Regis Reinhard and Thanh Tran to make it 5 K in his last six batters faced. Kyle Williamson and Max Jung-Goldberg both singled, though, and he hit their brothers Noah Williamson and Hayden Jung-Goldberg to force in the game's last run. He struck out Will Vasseur to end the frame. [3]

In 2024, he moved on to the independent leagues.
