Biographical Information[edit]
Claudio Scotti has pitched in the US and Italy and for the Italian national team.
In the 2015 European Junior Championschip, he had the worst line of any pitcher on the champion Italian team, with 5 runs (3 earned), 2 hits and 6 walks in 3 2/3 IP, though he fanned 4. [1] He was signed by Pittsburgh Pirates scout Tom Gillespie in 2016. [2] He was 0-1 with a 3.18 ERA in five games for the 2016 GCL Pirates and 1-1, 2.70 in 8 games for them the next year. In 13 games in the US, he had gone 1-2 with a 2.84 ERA and 1.68 WHIP; the big issue remained control (14 BB in 19 IP).
Scotti joined Nettuno in Italy after ending his Pirates tenure. He pitched 9 games in the 2018 Serie A1 with a 5.25 ERA. He struck out 15 in 12 innings but gave up 17 hits and 8 walks. [3] He allowed one run in three innings in the 2018 Haarlem Baseball Week. [4] He made the Italian team for the 2018 Super6, but did not get into a game. [5]
