Mark Harrison has pitched in the Bundesliga and for the German national team.
He debuted in the Bundesliga-1 in 2019, allowing 10 runs (8 earned) in 6 1/3 IP. [1] In 2020, he allowed 8 runs (6 earned) in 7 IP. [2] He emerged for the Paderborn Untouchables in '22, going 6-2 with a 2.45 ERA and .198 opponent average, fanning 55 in 51 1/3 IP. He was 4th in the Bundesliga-1 North in strikeouts, tied Zack Dodson for the win lead, and had the second-best ERA for those with 50+ IP (.15 behind Roldan Ochoa). [3]
Harrison was roughed up for 5 runs (3 earned) in 1/3 of an inning in the 2023 European Champions Cup, losing to the Amsterdam Pirates' Naut Kragt. [4] He fell to 2-5, 3.36 in the '23 Bundesliga. He tied Edvardas Matusevičius for 4th in starts (13), was 6th in K (between Quinn Di Pasquale and Austin Hassani) and tied Enorbel Márquez for 6th in losses. [5] He still made Germany's team for the 2023 European Championship. He debuted against Switzerland, starting against Stefan Haltmeier. He went 1-2-3 against Joshua Crouse, Max Jung-Goldberg and Noah Williamson (K) in the first. In the second, though, he allowed a Hayden Jung-Goldberg single. Ryan Byrne bunted the runner over and Kyle Williamson singled him in. William Vasseur doubled and Leonel Sosa hit into an error that scored two to cut Germany's lead to 5-3. He walked Nicholas Fischer and retired Crouse again then was lifted in favor of Marcel Giraud. His other outing came in the Bronze Medal Game, with Germany in the hunt for their first European Championship medal in 13 years. Relieving Sven Schüller in the bottom of the 10th with a 4-3 lead and the starting runner aboard, he retired Delano Selassa but then served up a game-losing gopher ball to Dashenko Ricardo. [6]
