Biographical Information[edit]

Austin Hassani has pitched in the Bundesliga and for the British national team.

Hassani was 0-1 with a 6.15 ERA for the Kitchener Panthers in the 2019 Intercounty Baseball League. [1] He went 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA for Britain in the 2019 European U23 Championship, losing to Antoine Rault and France. [2] Possessing a British passport and thus not counting as a foreign player in the German Bundesliga, he signed with the Berlin Flamingos for 2020. [3] He had a 0-5, 10.23 record in '20. [4]

His second season in Germany was better as he went 3-2, albeit with a 8.00 ERA. He tied for second in the Bundesliga-1 north in wins, one behind Samuel Steigert. [5] He then pitched for Britain in the 2021 European Championship. He debuted against Russia, relieving Ethan Solomon in the 8th with a 7-5 deficit. He retired Artem Logvinov and Maxim Monakhov before David Castillo singled but Nikita Monakhov grounded out. Russia did not bat in the 9th as Britain only scored once in the top of the inning. His other game was against Czechia. Succeeding Spencer Kreisberg with no outs in the 3rd, a 4-0 deficit and one on, he allowed a Marek Chlup single then an error on the next play made it 5-0. He got Martin Mužík to end the inning. In the 4th, he allowed a two-run homer to Matěj Hejma but he held the Czechs off the board in the 5th and 6th. In the 7th, he allowed one more run before Solomon took over with one out and one on. He thus finished the Euros with a 5.06 ERA, better than the team mark of 6.48. [6]
