Biographical Information[edit]

Ethan Solomon pitched for the British national team.

Solomon saved 10 games at Emory from 1999-2002, third on the team in career saves. He became their pitching coach after finishing as a player. [1] He returned to active playing with the London Mets in Britain, winning championship MVP in 2017. [2]

In 2019, he traveled alongside one of his Emory players, Richard Brereton, to play for the British national team in the 2019 European Championship. [3] He was given a rough starting assignment against the champion Dutch national team, going 5 innings (8 H, 5 BB, 4 R, 4 ER) in a loss to Orlando Yntema; Cody Chartrand took over for him. He struck out one batter, Sicnarf Loopstok. In his other appearance, he was a highlight in a 6-1 loss to Austria. He relieved Rei Martinez in the 2nd with a 4-1 deficit, men on the corners and one out. He allowed a RBI single to Felix Zimmerle but struck out Tobias Schermer and Moritz Hackl. He followed with four more shutout innings, fanning another five batters, and allowing one hit and two walks before Greg Hendrix closed it out. Only Alex Webb fanned more batters for Britain in the 2019 Euros. [4]
