Biographical Information[edit]

Antoine Rault has pitched in French Division I and for the French national team.

Rault was 0-1 with a 7.11 ERA for France in the 2015 European Junior Championship. [1] He got his start with Jimmer's de Saint-Lô in the French minors. In 2017, his last season there, he hit .333/.390/.427 with 18 runs in 20 games and 3-4 with a 4.79 ERA. [2] Moving up to Division I in 2018 with the Montigny Cougars, he was 2-1 with a 3.38 ERA. He walked 26 in 37 1/3 IP but allowed a .203 average. He was 6th in Division I in lowest average allowed, between former major leaguer Frank Mata and Meylian Marin. He also tied for 4th with 13 games pitched. [3]

In 2019, he went 3-5 with a save and a 3.61 ERA, again being wild (37 BB in 52 1/3 IP). The southpaw tied for 10th in the league in both appearances (15) and losses. [4] He was 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA in the 2019 European Championship U23. [5] With Montigny in the 2019 CEB Cup, he allowed one run in 5 2/3 IP. [6] He then pitched for France in the 2019 European Championship. His first outing came against runner-up Italy. Relieving Eric Moore with a 9-2 deficit in the 8th, he retired Federico Celli but Sebastiano Poma doubled and Mattia Reginato singled. Aldo Koutsoyanopulos hit into a run-scoring force and Drew Maggi drew a nine-pitch walk, but Rault escaped further harm by retiring Alessandro Vaglio. The 9th inning did not go as well. Chris Colabello singled, Giuseppe Mazzanti walked, Alberto Mineo hit a RBI double, Celli hit a single (Mazzanti scoring on an error on the play) and Poma singled in a run. Gabriel Fromental-Houle then relieved and both inherited runners would score, giving him six earned runs allowed in one inning. His other game came relieving Marc-André Habeck with a 12-1 lead in the bottom of the 8th against Belgium. He walked Tim Veraghtert and struck out Benjamin Goffaux but walked Benjamin Dille and Thomas De Wolf to load the bases. Robyn Clara relieved and allowed one of the inherited runners home. Rault finished with a 47.25 ERA, France's highest - Esteban Prioul was next at 18.00. He did not have the highest ERA for the entire event though as three Croatians and Erik Marqvardsen were all higher. [7]
