Biographical Information

Marcos Tabata has pitched professionally for several years.

Tabata signed with the New York Mets in 2006; the scouts were Junior Roman, Gregorio Machado and Roberto Alfonzo. As a rookie with the 2006 VSL Mets, he went 4-3 with a 3.08 ERA, walking 11 and striking out 48 in 52 2/3 IP. In 2007, he fell to 3-3, 7.49 with two saves for the Kingsport Mets, allowing a .309 average. That winter, he allowed nine hits (3 home runs) and 7 runs in 5 1/3 innings for the Aguilas del Zulia, going 0-1. He missed the summer of 2008 and winter of 2008-2009 with injuries. He split 2009 between the GCL Mets (0-1, 2 Sv, 2.63 in 13 G) and Savannah Sand Gnats (4 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 7 K in 3 IP). He had a 1-0, 3.18 record for the Aguilas in 2009-2010.

Tabata split 2010 between Savannah (4-1, Sv, 4.25 in 21 G) and the St. Lucie Mets (0-2, 3.48, 24 K in 20 2/3 IP over 10 G). He had a fine winter for Zulia, going 1-0 with two saves and a 1.59 ERA in 26 contests (second-most on the club). He allowed only 15 hits in 28 1/3 innings though he did walk 22. Let loose by New York, he spent 2011 with the Wichita Wingnuts, going 3-0 with a 4.67 ERA. For the Aguilas of 2011-2012, he went 1-2 with a 3.10 ERA out of the bullpen. He joined the Tigres de Aragua for the 2012 Caribbean Series and did well (0 R, 3 H, 4 K in 4 1/3 IP), including a combined shutout with Yohan Pino and Victor Moreno against the Indios de Mayagüez.

For 2012, he signed with Telemarket Rimini. He debuted on March 30, relieving Francisco Cruceta with a 4-0 lead in the 7th against Nettuno. He entered with two on and one out. He struck out former major leaguer Ray Sadler, hit Giuseppe Mazzanti to load the bases then got another K to end the inning. After a scoreless 8th, he allowed one run in the 9th then reliever Alessandro Maestri let an inherited runner score. Rimini hung on for the win.
