He struck out tourney MVP Wander Encarnación to begin things but then walked Edgar Rondón. Carlos Colmenarez hit into an error, former major leaguer Engel Beltre doubled in a run and the next four batters hit RBI singles before he finished the five-run frame by retiring Frank Hernández and Yancarlo Franco. His other appearance was against the team on the other end of the standings, last-place Hungary, in the 15th/16th place game. Replacing Mo Hackl in the 7th with a 11-2 lead, he allowed a double to Csaba Goór. Ádám Domsicz grounded out and Peter Gornik was hit. He struck out Graeham Luttor, the tourney RBI leader, but walked Bálint Piros and Ricardo Castillo hit a three-run double. He then walked Norbert Goór before fanning Zajzon Házi to end the frame. Julian Faulhaber succeeded him. [10]
