Biographical Information[edit]
Yancarlo Franco played four seasons in the minor leagues then in Spain.
Franco was signed in September 2005 by Glenn Godwin and Howard Norsetter of the Minnesota Twins. He debuted with the 2006 DSL Twins, hitting only .133/.221/.195. He represented Spain in the 2006 World Junior Championship. In '07, he improved slightly, to .193/.292/.304 with 8 steals in 9 tries while playing 2B, SS, 3B, RF and LF. During 2008, Yancarlo produced at a .184/.244/.263 rate and fell to 4-for-8 in steals; he played all three outfield spots and all three positions except 1B.
Franco helped Spain win the 2008 European Under-21 Championship. He spent his fourth straight season with the DSL Twins and had his best campaign yet at the plate - .252/.324/.364. He fielded .922 at his main position, shortstop, and played all four infield spots as well as right field.
For 2011, Franco played for the Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz. He was 5 for 15 with a double in the 2011 European Cup, leading his club in slugging and tying for the best average.
