Mauro Van Mook
- Bats Right, Throws Right
Biographical Information[edit]
Mauro Van Mook has pitched in Belgium and for the Belgian national team.
He was 1-2 with a 8.41 ERA for the 2021 Brussels Kangaroos as a teenager. [1] He went 3-4 with a 6.49 ERA for the '22 Kangaroos. [2] In '23, he moved to the Borgerhout Squirrels and had a 4-5, 5.14 record. He tied for 8th in losses, was 6th in BB (49) and tied Kevin De Smedt for 6th in K (76). [3]
Making Belgium's team for the 2023 U23 European Championship, he was 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA, losing to Austria's Lukas Inmann and Germany's Titus Von Kapff. He led the event in losses, IP (9 1/3, 2/3 ahead of Von Kapff), hits allowed (16) and earned runs (9, tied with Konstantin Teufel). His 9 runs allowed were one behind Teufel and he tied for 10th with 6 K. [4] Making it to Belgium's senior team by the 2023 European Championship, he made two appearances. He relieved De Smedt in the 4th with a 6-1 deficit against Switzerland and got Max Jung-Goldberg on a grounder before fanning Marlins farmhand Noah Williamson. He wound up going four scoreless, with two hits, a walk and three whiffs before Ben Van Nuffel took over; it wasn't enough for Belgium as their offense could not make the comeback. He relieved Robin Roevens in the 5th with a 4-1 lead over Greece and allowed one run in two hitless innings, walking five and striking out a pair; Van Nuffel again succeeded him. He wound up with Belgium's best ERA, .30 ahead of Van Nuffel. [5]
