Biographical Information

Luca Hörger has pitched in the Bundesliga and for the German national team.

Hörger debuted in the Bundesliga-1 in 2020, striking out two of three batters he faced for the Heidenheim Heideköpfe. In the 2021 European Champions Cup, he allowed 3 runs in 1/3 of an inning against the Arrows Ostrava but then beat the Rouen Huskies in the 7th/8th place game, with 3 hitless, scoreless frames. He also played left in the event, going 3 for 9 with 2 walks, 3 runs and 2 RBI. He allowed 3 runs (2 earned) in 1 1/3 IP in the 2021 U-18 European Championship, but hit .438/.526/.563 with 7 runs in 5 games as Germany's main center fielder. He tied for 6th in the event in runs, leading Germany.

The right-hander was 1-0 with a save and a 2.35 ERA, striking out 25 in 23 innings. He was 2 for 16 with two walks and three runs for the champs. He pitched 2 1/3 perfect innings in the 2021 U-23 European Championship. That won him a spot on Germany's team for the 2021 European Championship; he was their youngest player, about 3 months younger than Yannic Walther. He had a rough time in their opener against Croatia. The 17-year-old relieved Enorbel Márquez in the 7th inning with one on, no outs and a 4-0 deficit. Ronnie Krsolovic bunted the runner over. Kruno Gojković walked and Jose Herrera to make it 5-0 then Philip Smith homered. Samuel Steigert then relieved. He pinch-hit for Simon Gühring in a loss to Spain and struck out against former major leaguer Rhiner Cruz. He saved Germany's win over Russia in the 9th/10th place game, relieving Sven Schüller with a 4-1 lead in the 8th. He went 1-2-3 against Nikita Monakhov, David Castillo and Maxim Monakhov. In the 9th, he retired Geidys Soler on a fly, but Yunior Valiente reached on an error and Yan Pérez singled. Viacheslav Vasilev flew out, then Frank Bulte singled to load the bags. In the clutch, he struck out Kirill Chermoshentsev to wrap up the save.
