Biographical Information[edit]
Yan Pérez has played in Cuba, Colombia and Russia and for the Russian national team.
He debuted with the Cocodrilos de Matanzas in the 2016-2017, going 4 for 23 with a double, four walks, four runs and two RBI, backing up Ariel Martínez behind the dish. He was 1 for 13 with two walks and two runs in 2017-2018. He then defected and played for Colombia's Caimanes de Barranquilla and in Russia. [1]
In the 2021 European Championship Qualifier, he had four-RBI games for Russia againstSwitzerland. He was 4 for 13 with 3 homers, 6 runs and 5 RBI in 4 games, mostly at DH. He tied Alexander Bolgov and Yunior Valiente for 2nd in home runs, 3 behind fellow Cuban Geidys Soler. He was 4th in slugging among those with double-digit at-bats. Russia won a spot in the 2021 European Championship. [2] For the 2021 Euros themselves, he moved to first base, batting .238/.333/.381 with four runs and three RBI in six games, handling 23 chances error-free. He went deep off France's Quentin Moulin. In the 9th/10th place game against Germany, he singled off Sven Schüller to score David Castillo and go up 1-0 in the first but Russia fell, 4-1. [3]
