Lou Gehrig Memorial Award

The Lou Gehrig Memorial Award is given to players who best exemplify his character and integrity both on and off the field. It was created by the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity in 1955 in honor of Lou Gehrig, who was a member of the fraternity while at Columbia University. Each winner's name is placed on the Lou Gehrig Award plaque in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.
