Biographical Information[edit]

Kirstie Wright was on the first British women's national team. She joined her identical twin sister Kelly Wright; they are both doctors for the National Health Service. [1]

In the 2022 European Women's Championship, the debut for Britain's women's team, she pitched in two of their three games. She was the team's first reliever, taking over for Claury Scatliffe with a 13-4 in their opener versus Czechia. She had a rough start by walking Kristýna El Ghannam, plunked Tereza Stejspalová and walked Miluška Šprdlíková. Petra Kolkusová hit into a run-scoring force and Kateřina Marková walked but Kateřina Maříková hit into a double play. Now with a 22-5 lead going into the bottom of the 4th, she failed to retire any of six batters. Kateřina Popelková singled, Karolína Blažková walked and Tereza Kudláčková walked. El Ghannam hit into a run-scoring error, a wild pitch made it 22-7 and Stejspalová walked. After Wtight walked Šprdlíková to force in a run, she was relieved by Oona Ylinen, who let two of the inherited runners score. Britain still prevailed in their first contest. Her second appearance did not go well. Relieving Scatliffe with a 12-6 lead over defending champion France in the bottom of the 6th, she walked all three batters she faced - Coralie Guillemin, Angelique Andre and Emma Patry with a wild pitch scoring a run. Ylinen relieved and let all three score to leave Wright with ten walks and nine runs (six earned) in one inning, though she had allowed only one hit. She was second in the event in walks (one behind Blažková), tied for second in games pitched (one behind Cassandra Vigneau), tied for second in runs allowed (one behind Scatliffe) and tied for third in earned runs (after Denisa Józsová and Leonie Pauthe).
